Where Sara Palin has a special needs infant, I would like to respectfully ask why it took her so long to come out with a speech about education where she will need the specialized services of the education system when her son get older?
instead of attacking Obama on different issues she herself should be taking the high ground and spearheading the issues of Education and also the healthcare system to help the republican ticket get into office since her son will be effected for good or bad by any decision that the next president when it comes to the added education and healthcare requirements that he will need and what the availability of those services are.

opinion on domestic issues
By no means are international issues less important than domestic issues but when it comes to what is needed for the country is a real understanding of how international and domestic issues influence each other before deciding which is more important.
At the moment international issues are greatly influencing domestic issues and policies to the point that our economy is facing a real down turn in large part to our dependence on foreign oil. With that said our policies on domestic issues have to change so that our dependence on international issues is reduced.
Our policies have been to help international issues but at the moment if we forego dealing with out own domestic issues in an effort to help international issues then we will eventually be reduced to a third world country.
With the cost of oil skyrocketing, everyone is feeling the pinch both domestically and internationally especially those companies that afford to continue to do business as fuel and energy continually goes higher. One good way of dealing with these costs is to find ways of offsetting the cost of energy production that would also prop up the economy, this may include commercializing alternative energy sources that are usable but still need work to perfect them. They could be commercialized to deal with a number of domestic issues such as reducing our dependence on oil, creating jobs and to help the environment.
If commercialized there would be more people available to learn how those alternative energies work which would allow for others to be informed enough to give input on ways to improve on the technologies involved. This could be a way of dealing with the domestic issues that would probably directly impact how our domestic issues influence the international issues especially when it comes to how people deal with issues energy issues and more importantly how the international community deals with the dependence on oil.
The commercialization of alternative energy sources can only be part of the overall package with dealing with domestic issues. We need to deal with the deficiencies we have in other aspects that directly factor into how our economy hold up such as education. It has been shown that our public school systems are lagging behind some of the nations that are not as large and influential as we are.
With out the educational foundations that are fundamental to how well our country runs then there is, no way we can effectively stem any downturn of the domestic economy. It is a proven fact that our education system is failing to properly educate the nation’s children that are in the inner cities where there is the least amount of money allocated for what is needed, even though the teachers are held accountable for the failures of the students with regards to the standardized testing that is required.
The educational system has shown that not every student is capable of learning in the standardized methods that is used through out the country and that there are students who have proven that they have learned the subject matter but they are not able to show that on the standard versions of the tests. These things have to be addressed in ways that permit them to become productive members of our communities rather than a drain on them due to the short sightedness of bureaucrats who do not have any understanding of what is needed to educate.
Without an educated population we cannot hope to deal with issues that are plaguing our domestic issues due to not having people who would be capable of dealing with the problems our nation faces.
We also have to deal with our health care issues that are directly influenced by an individual’s ability to pay for medical treatment. Yes we do have great health care in general but where there is not standardized primary care for all regardless of income, there are many people who are forced to use the emergency room as their primary doctors office due to not having the upfront money on a weekly or monthly basis to pay for the health insurance programs that are offered in an attempt to reduce the prices of the health care.
We may not need universal health care all the way through the health care system but we do need a universal set of standards for primary care so that the preventative medicine that has been shown to work at reducing pricing can actually bee given to all. Affordable preventative medical treatment is the first step in having a healthy workforce, which would bring down the number of days needed to deal with illnesses that causes the productivity to go down in the workforce for both the public and private sectors.
When dealing with domestic issues everyone in a position to help or hinder any progress has to ask one question of all issues, which is; how does affecting one issue affect another issue?

my take on job layoffs
With facing the loss of a job due to termination over something you have done or if it is from layoffs you experience a great deal of frustration over the fact that you are being forcibly uprooted from a job that you may enjoy. You will undoubtedly have issues that you will have to deal with, with the most important one is the job search and whether you can afford to take your time or not while looking for a new job so you can have some well deserved down time.
When faced with a layoff, it may just be cutbacks or a company closing for which both cause people to worry. With cutbacks if you were not laid off, you wonder if you may be next and asking yourself if you should look for a new job but with a company closing you feel like you should have gotten out sooner rather than letting your world come down around you.
Right after finding out you are being laid off regardless of whether it is a layoff effective immediately or a layoff effective on a certain date, you will feel defeated and looking at your co-workers and friends for advice and if they know of any companies looking for anything remotely similar to what you are doing. Each person with have their own ideas of what you should do and how you should go about doing it based on what they know about you
When laid off you will inevitably find out how good your networking skills are if you are set on looking for a job right away and if you feel you can afford to take some time looking for a new job you may be forced to refocus what you would like to do with making the decision to go back to school for a certificate or a degree if your finances permit or if you can procure the funding if not a program that you can do for free.
If you decide to go right back into the workforce as quickly as possible then you will have to decide what you are willing to do, if you can take a pay cut and how much of a pay cut you can take with still being capable of maintaining your bills. If you decide that going back to school will be a good thing that you have the time for then you may need to decide whether you want to go to improve your skills in the field that you just left or if you would rather gain new skills that would widen the field of jobs that you can deal with.
You may feel like you can’t afford to be completely unemployed but feel that you would be better served if you made the time to go to school for at least a certificate program which would possibly working part time while going to school during the day or working somewhere close to full time while going to school nights and weekends.
In the end you have to make the decision that is best for you and your family if you have one that you have to be there for.

education and volunteering
given the fact that everywhere you go every company is asking for some sort of experience in order to qualify for a position, volunteering should be a prerequisite for high school students especially for the students in the major cities. Volunteering will give them some of the experience needed to enter the work force whether or not the student finishes high school. whether you call it volunteering or internships it is needed in todays society due to the fact that the students will not be able to gain the needed experience if they do not have the opportunity to attend a college or university.
If the high school students are not taught the skills in school then they have to be taught elsewhere otherwise all they will qualify for are the jobs that require no skills, pay little money in return and that shows no real promise unless you show an ability to move up to a managerial position. If we are to effectively fight poverty in this country we have to ensure that all high school age children have the needed skills to enter the work force.

in regards to the U.S. Supreme court decision on voluntary desegregation
In response to the U.S. Supreme Courts decision to fore go voluntary desegregation in the public schools, it will be seen as a discriminatory event, even if the decision may not have been intended as such. We as a society have an obligation to educate our children as best as we can and it has been shown that there is a disparity in our education system when it comes to education among the individual races in this country, which in some areas are getting worse with each generation.
We should not be looking at race as a factor in education, rather we should be we need to be looking at what the deficiencies are in each community with emphasis on the individual deficiencies in the individual schools. We also need to be attracting good teachers that are willing to teach at schools that have such deficiencies in an effort to turn the schools around. When it comes to getting students to attend specific schools that maybe out of their neighborhoods, electives should be taught at these schools that would draw a diverse student body rather than having an elective course which appeals to a specific race, gender or religion.
When dealing with the schools that have deficiencies, we cannot just look at the school system as a stand alone problem when it comes to educating the children, we also have to look at the communities that these schools are in and find ways of getting the communities to take a proactive role in education rather than a reactive role. What is needed is to find out why individual communities are allowing the degradation of their communities and why they are helping to perpetuate the downfall of their communities.
When it comes to race, gender and religious relations in our society in general, each race has members with in their ranks that help to perpetuate the stereotypes that cause the discrimination that as a society we seek to eradicate. As long as each race, gender and religion helps to perpetuate the stereotypes which causes the discrimination onto them we will continue to see things like racial, gender and religious inequality especially in our education system, which to some degree is charged with teaching us to be better people all around. It does not help that each race, gender and religion tends to self segregate by nature, for which we have to get past to further our education system.
I have in the past sent to politicians, ideas I have had regarding education that have from what I have seen gone unanswered and would be willing to send these ideas to anyone who is willing to read them and forward them to other politicians (as long as proper credit is given) if the people thought they would help stimulate a positive response to fixing our education system.
We cannot just tell our government officials that enough is enough we have to get it through to the members of the communities that enough is enough when it comes to directing educational resources to each community. It cannot stop there either we have to do the same for other resources directed at helping communities. As a society we cannot afford to idly sit back and whine about what others have and we don’t, we have to take our futures into our own hands and not let others dictate what our place in life is, regardless of what resources are out there.
As a society we cannot move forward, until we can learn to take responsibility for where we go in life and how we get there, instead of letting society guide us to where society wants us to be. To do this we have to be proactive in getting positive things done in our communities, that benefit ourselves, our children and our communities overall without looking at race, gender or religion.

why I write
I have always loved to put my thoughts down on paper. Perhaps it is because I had a severe speech impediment as a small child and was forced to find alternate forms of communications until I was able to over come my speech impediment.
I found that expressing my thoughts on paper was the best way I could express myself until I could talk, even today I occasionally stutter and it always feels as if my mouth cannot keep up with my mind. I enjoy writing and know that I am a capable enough writer to have had twelve letters published in one local newspaper.
I have always been hard on myself when I write anything with the biggest thing being the editing of my own work with regards to feeling as if it is never good enough. I would like to write stories but I have always had a problem with character and story development. The only thing that I know I had done a halfway decent job with was a short play I had written for school for which my english teacher seemed to love and a few years later another person who had been a co-worker of mine that claimed to be somewhat of a writer liked the format I had for the play. I have thought of rewriting it due to that fact that one of the places in the play is still there but under new ownership and a new name.
I have thought of taking classes to help my character and story development but I am pressed for time and cash so realistically I would only be able to do it on weekends and somewhere where it doesn't cost anything or much.
I would not mind writing a column for a newspaper, magazine or for another format such as individuals who could use help writing due to a lack of time or a lack of ability that would allow me to showcase my writing if it were a way of getting better at writing and editing.

No child left behind
The No Child Left Behind act is a noble idea that has been undermined by the fact that the government wants the standards of the no child left behind act to be maintained but the government doesn't want to do what would be required to be done to achieve those standards.
I applaud the effort to make sure every child gets the education mandated but I find it deplorable that we as a country are allowing people with no education background to determine how the standards are being implemented.
I have sent ideas to various politicians pertaining to education with no real response. I have also posted the same exact same ideas as sent to the various politicians on my blog site. the ideas had the titles of Education Reforms I would like to see in the U.S., and an Idea on outsourcing and education in the U.S.

my first post concerning the presidential campaign
I will not knowingly make any derogatory remarks towards any of presidential candidates.
I recently read that the former Governor of my state Mitt Romney, had reversed a view that he held concerning Hillary Clinton's book "It Takes a Village". while he was Governor he agreed with her assessment. In a recent political campaign stop he reversed his view and also stated that he believes in "It Takes a Family" rather than "It Takes a Village".
Don't get me wrong, the family unit is the basis of our society but at the same time with out that "village" we cannot have more than the family unit.
I feel that he is wrong in his assessment of the whole thing because I believe it is a slap in the face of the childcare providers, the education system and the police departments in our society just to name a few things that would suggest otherwise.
If it didn't take a village then why would we need anything that our society provides us, because if there were no such thing as the "village" mentality then we could not have childcare providers to care for our children so we could go off for work, we would all have to be our childrens primary educators also including all matters concerning schooling and we would not have police need for police departments due to us policing our children even when they are away from home and out of site.

an idea on outsourcing and education in the U.S.
An Idea on Outsourcing and Education
I admit I have no frame of reference when it comes to either outsourcing or education. With all this talk of outsourcing of jobs to other countries and the problems that some of the public education systems have due to money I have an idea. I don’t know if it would be a viable option or allow the school systems to be competitive in terms of bringing in money to the schools.
Do this first by looking to see if there is anything the schools can do to help with adult education needs with possibly an adult version of vocational training for a small cost that would help offset the money the costs associate with keeping the school open longer.
Then look directly at the companies that are outsourcing jobs to other countries. Do this to see which of those jobs the schools can bid on to and get to bring jobs to the school(s) to teach as a vocation or to teach skills that they can take with them to the work force. If this is possible then expand vocational training to permit the students the opportunity to be put into a job that teaches the practical real world experience needed while still in school.
If what, I am suggesting is a viable option, then how about starting “school based companies” that would be part of the school in terms of the education process. At the same time make it an independent company that is overseen by the school or school system but is open even when school is out for vacation so it stays viable and competitive. If need be, have the schools pair up with a college or university to allow college students in those fields into the program and to help with the resources associated with running such a program.
Here are some Ideas:
· Expand the concept and format of vocational education to permit teaching of the practical applications of the vocation in the work place along with the work structure and ethics. Do this by means of the creation of “school based companies” that the students can get jobs at.
· Design the curriculum so that the students that are not involved with the vocational training can get the jobs in a “school based company” that are not vocation oriented jobs. Do this so that they are taught the practical side of the curriculum so they can take those skills with them from company to company.
· Design the vocational education as a stand-alone program but that is part of the school and curriculum. Try to design it so that the students understand that the viability and the competitiveness of the program or “school based company” relies on the students ability to learn and put to use what they have learned.
· Set up multiple school based companies so that there is competition between the schools in an attempt to get the students to learn that the quality of work they are producing has a direct effect on the ability to bring in new customers and whether those customers will be repeat customers or would be willing to refer new customers to the school based company.
Where companies are looking to outsource to have potential cost savings, why not take advantage of those companies sending out jobs by trying to keep those jobs in the local area. Where schools are in the business of teaching children and young adults why not allow them to gain the practical side of what is being taught while getting a paycheck while still in school being taught the skills.

Education reforms I would like to see in th U.S.
Education reform
The state and federal governments require that the teachers teach but they are too far removed from the classroom to understand that in some areas it is easier to teach the students than others.
The education process should be in the hands of the people that have to deal directly with the teachers, the students and their parents on a regular basis to be able to get a feel for what works in that school or community. Understandably there has to be some standardization to education at the same time there should not necessarily be a standardized way of teaching. This is due to the fact that not every student has the ability to be taught in one specific way of teaching. The education system is failing the students that lack the ability to learn in the accepted way of teaching. By no means am I saying that all failing students are children that have problems learning, you also have children that don’t care to learn for one reason or another.
Suggestions:
· Fund the education system without just blindly throwing good money after bad. When funding the system place the funding where and when needed not blanket the system.
· Let the individual schools and the teachers in those schools help in the decision making process on what to teach and how to teach it. Some schools need to be more creative than others are when it comes to teaching.
· Get the parents involved in the curriculum so that they know what to expect from the schools so that they have an understanding of what their children are being taught. Getting them involved can be beneficial to the student and their parents especially if the parents are willing to and have the time to take an active role in their child’s education.
· Assess the student body of each school by specifically looking at the types of requirements that each school has in teaching the students. Look at the students attendance, class work, discipline, teacher given tests, standardized state tests, their temperament, their willingness to take part in their education along with how fast they learn and under what circumstances do they learn easier an have problems learning. After looking into these, then change the things that are causing problems if possible.
· Stream line the education process by having only certified educators that are still actively teaching that haven’t lost touch with the needs of the students, the teachers and the schools in charge of the education departments on the state and federal government level. Also untie the educators by taking away the bureaucratic red tape that slows down the process and that costs money due to slowing down the education process because of people dragging their feet.
· Get companies to take a pro-active roll in the education of the students financially and through workers contributing time and effort to the schools due to them having the most to gain and loose from the education process doing its job or lack there of. Companies still need a workforce and if the potential workers haven’t received adequate education to qualify for the jobs then they have no one to produce the products or services offered by the companies.
For higher education, the people who wish to go to college should not be penalized for a lack of funds to attend college and should be able to qualify for financial aid even if it means basing it on these,
· Income level of the parents/guardians or the students
· Grades of the student
· College/University eligibility for schools based on grades and SATs
· Location and cost for the schools of choice based on eligibility
· Years needed for course completion
· Willingness of the student to help payback the financial aid in other ways i.e. working at the school or volunteering in the students’ free time while enrolled in school.
You can find a fish for someone, then they eat for a day; teach them to fish and they eat for a lifetime.
